Outfit of the Day: The Bunny Hop

Happy belated Easter everyone.  So I went the cliche' route and wore a white dress for Easter.  I bought this dress last year and wore it only once for a book signing.  So I figured there isn't a better time to bring this dress out again for a 2nd round.

Outfit Logistics

Shoes -  Navah's Closet Ralph Lauren Navy Blue Wedges $13 (Ladies she carries a lot of size 11s)
Faux Pearls - Lane Bryant (I got these probably 7 years ago)
Belt - Ann Taylor $40

One of my favorite things about Easter is seeing little girls in their prettiest dresses. This Easter I saw much more than that.  At this time I will be stepping on my soap box.   Ladies, we must do a check before we leave the house.  My fiance and I were sitting behind two young ladies at church and shockingly saw a girl in a dress that was so transparent that you could see her thong and 'gasp' entire BEHIND!  BVal (his nickname) & I looked at each other at the same time and nodded that we had just both saw the same thing.  This girl's thong was light blue with lace trim and she had approximately 5 dimples in each cheek.   Why should I know this?  I know that slips seem to be old-fashioned, but I will say you should have one on hand...just in case.  I wear them from time to time myself.  With my white dress today, I had some panty action going on so slipped my nude undergarment and 'POOF' problem solved.  She had a friend with her and I know she saw it...some friend.

I guess this poses a question of, are slips so old fashioned that most women don't own them anymore?  Do you have one?

  3. I have full and half slips and hate that women now see them as options. Confidence should never clash with class.

  4. I always wear a slip, my Grandmother drilled it into us when we were little girls!

  5. I was just saying how I needed a slip because my dress kept clinging to my stockings. but yes grownups should wear slips especially! it may be old fashioned as I felt in high school but nowadays they make nice ones and it may even make you feel pretty and sexy (depends on where you are going...lol) I vote YES for slips. I will definitely make this investment

  6. You really crack me up. First-I looove the dress and the blue shoes. Second- omg, I thought I was the only one who believed in slips. Yes, they are old school but they are still needed to this day. I grew up in the church so it was imperative that we wore slips under our dresses so people didn't know what color our undies were. I will wear a slip in a heart beat along with a camisole.

Love how you keep it real.

  7. Absolutely slips are necessary! Yikes! What better way to ruin a cute outfit that to have lumps, bumps and lines. Ick.

  8. :-( I dont have any slips any more. I use to own a couple but I dont wear dresses that often. Even when I wear a dress I usually have one a panty girdle so I dont have those issues. Slips may seem old fashioned but I'm a southern girl so I truly believe in modesty and always being lady like.

  11. First, you look GORGEOUS in this dress!!

Seeing through women's clothes is too frequent of an occurrence, and I do my best not to walk around with my goods showing through my skirts or dresses.

I've been looking for a slip that's the right length, but in the mean time I borrow one from my mom. Unfortunately they don't make as many slips as they did back in the day, but I think wearing a slip under your dress is not only good for coverage and decency but is a bit sexy.

  12. Beautiful dress.
    Now on to your question.
Underpinnings are ESSENTIAL in dressing and looking good! Slips are a bit old fashioned, but sometimes, they are NECESSARY! I have full slips, half slips, decorative slips (just in case you want a little to show!). :)
    Great question!

  13. LOL! I am made at you for knowing that intricate details of her thong! LOL! That made me laugh out loud! You stupid!

I hate slips too but they are necessary evils at times. I get mine from the thrift store. The ones in the thrift stores are a bit more girly with lace and can be sexy too. I'm wearing a slip as I type!

And you look smashing in this dress! Just smashing!

  25. Old fashioned or not, if it ain't broke don't fix it - slips DO work! All that dimple-counting could've been avoided if she would've had the decency to sport one. I'm mad at her friend too!! Lol.

But YOU look smashing!! I just adore the back detail on your dress + there's always something extra refreshing and rich about an all-white ensemble ;)

  26. My mom and grandmother always told me and my sister we should have at least a couple of slips. Every woman should have at least a nude and black one. They always come in handy when you have on a dress or skirt and then go outside in the sunlight and you find out you can see straight through your outfit. Super cute dress!!
